Perhaps the oddest (to me) cultural difference here is that throwing toilet paper in the toilet is a real no-no. Everywhere around Peru they have signs that remind people of that. The truth is that Peruvian plumbing is very bad, and they do not want their toilets to start clogging. So, I guess this rule makes sense!
As you can see, I have learned so much about Peruvians and their culture in the three months I have been here. And I can only imagine that I will continue to learn more unexpected things during the remainder of my stay!
