¡Hola! Hello!
My name is Mary Allison Steel, and I am from San Francisco, California, USA! I grew up all over the United States and have spent time living in California, Washington, Kentucky, and Nevada! My nomadic childhood allowed me to explore education from all angles and inspired me to become an international and comparative educator!
While obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, I completed my student teaching abroad in Valencia, Spain, where I taught kindergarten to 27 Spanish-speaking students! This experience greatly influenced my decision to continue living abroad, and after graduation, I moved to Stockholm, Sweden, where I spent two years teaching 4th-grade students.
Now as a current Fulbright grantee, I am living on the small Spanish island of Tenerife, which is located off of the coast of western Africa! This year, I will be an English teacher at two local schools in a city called Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In total, I have spent three years living abroad. My love for traveling and interacting with different cultures has inspired me to join Reach The World, where I can hopefully inspire future children to seek experiences beyond their own borders! I am so excited to share my international journey with you!
Let’s get this fiesta started!
