Travel News

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:
  1. I went from Nice (Neese), France to Toulouse (Two-loose), France (by plane)
  2. Toulouse, France to Carcassonne (Car-cass-own), France (day trip by train)
  3. Toulouse, France to Lyon (Lee-on), France (by long distance train)
  4. Lyon, France to Geneva (Gen-ee-vah), Switzerland (day trip by car)
  5. Finally: Lyon, France back to Nice, France (by long distance train)
How did I get around this week?:

TAKING ALL THE TRAINS! I have been on at least four types of trains just this week. Long-distance cross-country trains, inter-city short distance train, local tram in Lyon and the subway in Lyon. When I visited my cousins, we drove their car to Geneva Switzerland. That was one of the few times I sat in a car the entire time I was in Europe.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

Carcassonne, France. The fortified city of Carcassonne is the kind of city within a castle you see in TV shows and movies. People have been living in this place since 3,500 B.C. but the walls and the castle itself were first built by the Romans in 100 B.C! Since then, successive rulers have expanded and re-fortified the city in many ways.
