I'm Maurice! I was born in the Philippines but now I live in a small town on the Island of Hawai'i. I immigrated to the United States with my family when I was just five years old. This is where my love for culture and language comes in. When I immigrated to the U.S., I had no idea how big of a change it would be. I had to learn an entirely new language and culture, and meet all new people. Growing up, I have been introduced to Hawaiian, Japanese, American, and Spanish cultures. I love learning about new cultures and immersing myself in the process!
I am a senior at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona studying Film with a minor in Spanish. I love watching films from a different perspective other than just an audience. I also enjoy cooking, swimming at the beach, and laughing with my friends!
I've always known I wanted to learn a language. When I entered high school, my school offered language courses in Japanese, Hawaiian, and Spanish. I chose to study Spanish and I have loved every minute of learning it. The coolest thing that I've learned about Spanish culture is that there are many different Spanish-speaking countries and all have different ways of speaking.
