Traveler Bio

Hello!

My name is Max Buglisi (buh-glee-see) and I go to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At school, I study Environmental Science with a concentration in Marine Biology, where I work in a research lab to see the impact of climate change on our coral reefs. Before college, I grew up in a small beach town in eastern North Carolina where I learned to surf, swim, and SCUBA dive! As you can tell I spent a lot of my life in the water.

This semester I am traveling to Florence, Italy through a study abroad program to learn about the Italian Renaissance. I figured where better to learn about the Italian Renaissance than in Italy! Here I will be taking classes on Italian history and culture, as well as some other topics such as filmmaking and chemistry.

As much as I am excited to study in Florence, I am just as eager to travel. The country of Italy has many beautiful towns and landmarks, and I plan to go to as many destinations in my time abroad as I can! I also plan to travel outside the borders of this gorgeous country and explore the many cultures that exist in all of Europe.

I cannot wait to show you the amazing places I go and share the bits of culture I find along the way! Let's go!
