Hi everyone! Saibaidee (sah-bye-dee), which means hello in Lao! My name is Meadow and I am from Endicott, New York. I went to Barnard College in New York City, where I studied Environmental Science and English. I love science because I enjoy going outdoors and exploring new parks. I am curious about plants and how they grow! Along with this, I really enjoy reading fun books and writing short stories.
Living in a big city like New York was very exciting for me. I love to travel, try different types of food, visit new museums, and meet people from all over the world. I’ve also lived in Scotland and have visited 17 different countries! When I’m not teaching or exploring, I love doing handstands, baking, and missing my dogs back in New York.
This year, I am teaching English to university students in Laos through the U.S. Fulbright program! Laos is a small country in Southeast Asia. It is filled with tall mountains, rainforests and waterfalls. I chose to travel to Laos because my dad and family were born there. I am so excited to learn the Lao language and spend time where my family grew up. I'll be teaching at Souphanouvong University in Luang Prabang, which is a city along the Mekong River in Northern Laos.
My favorite food in Laos is called sticky rice. The best part is that you can eat it with just about anything, and you get to roll it into little balls with your hands! I’m especially excited to share pictures of the beautiful views, giant colorful temples, and yummy foods throughout my year abroad. Hopefully we spot some wild monkeys and water buffalos too! I'm excited to have you on this journey with me!
