I got around in a mototaxi, a van, and a bus! Mototaxis are motorcycles that have carts on the back that can hold about 3 people. Unfortuently, our mototaxi broke down this week, so I have included a photo of the mototaxi on its side being worked on.
The most interesting place I visited this week was Chachapoyas! This is the department capitol and is considered one of the safest cities in Peru. Its streets are clean and all the buildings of the main streets are painted white. They also have the only muffin store that I have been able to find outside of Lima.
Traveling is by far the best part of my job. Getting to know areas that the average tourist will never see and meeting the people who live there is such a treat. Most have never seen a blonde person before and will touch my hair and eyes and ask if they are real. It used to bother me a lot but I have come to understand that they are just trying to be friendly and understand more about something that, to them, is unusual.
