Well class, I can’t believe our exchange has come to an end! Over the past few months, it has been so fun to write about my experiences here in Peru and to meet each of you during our video calls. I hope you enjoyed learning more about Peru - its people, culture, animals, food and celebrations - all of which I have been so fortunate to experience since moving here.
Although our exchange is ending, I hope you remember that learning doesn’t only happen within the four walls of your classroom (although my sister is a pretty awesome teacher). Living in Peru for over a year and a half has changed me in ways I never expected. It has taught me that there is always something new to learn. The world is so vast and full of incredibly diverse people and experiences. I truly believe that every person we meet and every experience that comes across our path has something to teach us.
Even though it can feel scary at first, stepping out of your comfort zone, trying new things and talking to new people (maybe even in a new language!), is one of the best ways to grow and learn.
I am not the same person I was when I left home to begin my journey with the Peace Corps in September 2024. I have grown so much.
