¡Hola estudiantes (Hi students)! My name is Michellet Rojas-Brand, and for the next couple of months, I will be connecting with you about my study abroad experience in Peru.
I live in Rhode Island, a state known for activism on different topics, such as having a free school lunch program for students or creating more green spaces for people to enjoy. Involving myself in social justice since high school, I was inspired to pursue a program in Latin America that explored a culture similar to mine and how those populations also use activism.
By sharing my experience with you and reading your responses, I hope to discuss how other countries and cultures can be very different yet similar. I'm very excited to have this digital journey with you!
I am a Fund for Education Abroad scholarship recipient. The mission of the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) is to provide scholarships and ongoing support to students who are underrepresented among the U.S. study-abroad population. FEA aims to support students of color, first-generation college, and community college students with awards amounts of up to $10,000 for an academic year abroad.
