Hello! My name is Natasha Hessami. I am 23 years old, and I will be living in Glasgow, Scotland (part of the United Kingdom!) for this next year. I was born in Vancouver, Canada then moved down to Washington State in the U.S. when I was 12. So, I've spent 12 years in Canada, 11 years in the U.S., and now I have hopped across the pond for some time abroad!
Growing up I loved reading and cooking, and throughout college I added climbing, hiking and traveling to that list. In college I studied biochemistry and math, and now I am working on my Master's degree in social policy at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. I was fortunate to recieve a Fulbright grant so I can focus my studies on how laws and decisions made by the government impact people in different ways (including education, income, housing and healthcare). The government works differently in the U.K. than in the U.S., but I am not quite sure how differently people live (...yet!).
During my time in the U.K., I am excited to compare my experiences living here with both Canada and the United States. I will also be taking advantage of long weekends and traveling to nearby European countries. I cannot wait to share photos and stories of hikes and bike rides I go on, museums and old castles I visit, and all of the food I eat!
