The weather this past week has been foggy and cold. We have seen some drizzle and some snow showers as well. It is very humid and with the fog. In fact, you can only see about half a mile in any direction!
This week, I have seen a lot of Antarctic prions. They are birds with a wingspan of about 1 foot! Antarctic prions hang out around the ship and fly in groups. I have seen flocks of around 20 birds. They look very small and dainty compared with the albatros, which have much larger wingspans and stocky builds.
The coolest thing I saw in nature this week was an iceberg with tons of snow naturally blowing off the top of it. The iceberg was big and square. I was watching it through a port hole as we went passed the iceberg, and I thought I saw something on top of it. And then it was gone. And then it reappeared on a different part of the iceberg. It turned out to be snow blowing around the top of the iceberg.
