During the previous week Fiji was hit by Cyclone Vaianu, which was a category 3 storm. Cyclones are the Pacific region's equivalent of what we have in Florida and the Caribbean Basin, similar to hurricanes. Because I hadn't been watching local news, I was caught off-guard. Thankfully, I was stocked up on water and food to last a few days. It rained heavily and constantly for about five days with concomitant high winds. I stayed at home Thursday to Wednesday of that week. This week, things have more or less returned to normal, which is sunny and balmy with intermittent rain showers.
I've only seen dogs passing people's homes on runs and walks. Thankfully, I haven't seen many stray dogs in Fiji.
The coolest thing I saw was the sunset on my first run. It was beautiful!
