The weather in the Atacama Desert and town of San Pedro was cold and windy during the mornings and evenings but warm and sunny during the middle of the day. We had to be sure to bring a lot of layers because the temperature changes so much throughout the day!
This week I got to see a lot of animals owned by the native people of the Atacama desert region, who are also known as Atacamenos. I saw llamas, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and alpacas.
The coolest thing I saw in nature this week was the Tres Marias Salar in the Atacama Desert. This salt flat is made of entirely only salt. Some people even licked the ground to taste it!
