Hello! My name is Neha (स्नेह, which means "love" in Sanskrit). I’m a 23-year old Business and Social Work graduate from the University of Michigan, originally from Seattle, Washington. I grew up surrounded by mountains, rain, the smell of pine and coffee, and a love for the outdoors and storytelling. As a runner, I have always benefitted from the city streets and public spaces of every city I visit. When I went to college, I had the opportunity to lead a student organization that helped invest in Detroit's revitalization and supported marginalized communities and small business owners. This experience exposed me to the inequality of cities and made me curious about how the design of a city can impact its communities. Scandinavian countries are known for their people-friendly cities, so I applied for and was fortunate to receive a U.S. Fulbright Research Grant to research how different urban street designs affect people in Aalborg, Denmark. While living in Denmark, I will conduct my research, take Masters-level courses, and explore Denmark and Europe! I am excited to share my stories from abroad and hear about your journeys through the school year!
