Traveler Bio

Hola hola, I’m Nicky Mendoza! Thank you so much for tuning into my page :) I am a soon-to-be college graduate studying Public Health at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and life truly is good at a beach school. My passion lies in community health, global wellness, and using education and service to make a meaningful impact.

Before I officially graduate, I’ll be taking an exciting international journey to complete my degree. My travels will begin in Colombia, where I’ll be visiting family and reconnecting with my roots. From there, I’ll spend some time in Guatemala, embracing new cultures and experiences, before finally landing in Peru, where I’ll be living and working for three months.

In Peru, I will be completing my internship at a medical clinic, where I’ll have the opportunity to support healthcare initiatives and help uplift the local community. This experience is incredibly meaningful to me, as it combines my academic studies with hands-on service, cultural exchange, and a deep commitment to public health equity.

I’m beyond excited to share this journey with you all—my travels, my work, the people I meet, and the lessons I learn along the way. Thank you for being here and for supporting me as I step into this next chapter of growth, service, and adventure.

Peace Corps Volunteers like me live and work side by side with community members around the world, collaborating on locally prioritized projects, building relationships, exchanging cultures and knowledge, and helping transform lives for generations. Learn more by clicking here.
