What an exciting six weeks this has been with you all! I am so glad that you joined me from afar on my journey to Mexico. I hope that you all have enjoyed learning about Mexico, our neighbor to the south.
Before I say good-bye, I want to take a moment to encourage you all to continue learning about other cultures. You don't need to move abroad like me, although moving to Mexico was a great way to immerse myself in Mexican culture. You can also learn a lot from short trips abroad, or from visiting parts of the United States where people with diverse backgrounds live. You don't have to go far. Did you know that Omaha has thousands of native Spanish-speaking residents? El Museo Latino, the Latino history museum, showcases local, regional and international exhibits about Latino art.
There are opportunities for students in the United States to study abroad even during high school. Many programs offer financial aid for students who cannot afford the full price of the trip. If it's something you're interested in doing, don't get discouraged just because it sounds expensive. I would not have been able to study abroad during college without the scholarships I received.
