From its mountains to its flora and fauna, Querétaro is a pretty interesting place environmentally. Let's learn some more!
As we're located in the middle of the country and within a valley of the Sierra Gorda, or Fat Mountain Range, Querétaro is a pretty hot and dry area. It also has not rained much at all this year, something which exacerbates, or worsens, the conditions. Because of this, it's pretty dusty sometimes, especially on windy days.
The mountain ranges usually divert rain clouds away from the city, but the iconic aqueductos, or aqueducts, bring water into the city from the mountains. In years past, the people of the city relied on these aqueducts, but there are other means of obtaining fresh water these days.
The dust makes a lot of people, including myself, quite sick sometimes. It can irritate your throat and eyes.
People sometimes wear medical facemasks and/or sunglasses to protect themselves.
