Hi class! I'm writing this from my family's house in California. After 22 hours and three plane rides, I am home from my study abroad in Cochabamba. My last few days were full of food and goodbyes. I finished my final project, celebrated my birthday, caught up with friends and said goodbye to my host family.
My final project involved a lot of reflecting about what I think education is and seeing what kinds of education are available in Bolivia. Over the past month, I talked to 15 people and observed classrooms. I then wrote a 35 page paper in Spanish about my short study, which was very reflective about my personal observations. It involved asking, "Why do I think the way I think? How are my actions supporting that?" I know it sounds personal, but it's actually about teaching!
Then it was my birthday. I celebrated with friends and went to eat with my host family. It was really fun having a birthday so close to the end, because everyone was back and it served kind of as a goodbye to my host family and a celebration of our four months together. I learned a lot from Bolivia, and now I have to get used to being back again with my family. I'm looking forward to sharing with them all the wonderful things I learned.
