Hello! My name is Roni Margalit. For the next few months, I'll be sharing my experience of studying in Cochabamba, Bolivia with you! I’m learning in Spanish (both inside and out of the classroom) about the histories, cultures and ways of living throughout Bolivia.
I was born in Israel, but grew up for almost my whole life in the Bay Area of California, about 20 minutes south of San Francisco. At home, I speak the language my parents grew up speaking (Hebrew) and English. I grew up with my mom, my dad and my two sisters. I am 20 years old and I love the color green, reading, dancing and eating tasty food. I go to college in snowy Saint Paul, Minnesota, where I am studying sociology and educational studies.
For the next few months I am studying in Cochabamba, where I have been told “No comemos para vivir; vivimos para comer” (We don’t eat to live; we live to eat). I live with a host family, which means that strangers have welcomed me into their home for the next three months. I live with a mom, dad, sister, brother, three dogs and a sneaky cat. I'm excited to share my experience in Bolivia with you!
