What's It Like To Be a Kid in El Salvador?

Introduction:

I had the chance to interview the son of my boss, who is half Salvadoran and half American. However, he has grown up here in El Salvador. He's 12 years old, so a bit older than you all. I think he's pretty sassy and smart! Here are his answers!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

I normally have cereal or pupusas (a flatbread made with cornmeal and stuffed with cheese, beans or meat) for breakfast. For lunch I buy something at school, which is different each day. I normally eat chicken, beans, pasta or meatballs for dinner.

What is your house like?:

Some houses in El Salvador are made out of cement and bricks like mine, but many are made out of metal panels and wood.

What chores do you have at home?:

I don't really have chores at home, but maybe I should have chores?

What jobs do your parents have?:

My dad works for workers' rights and my mom works in human rights. Basically, they work to make sure that people get what they deserve in life!

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

I wake up at 4:00 AM to get to school in time for 6:45 AM. We have a lot of traffic here in San Salvador, so we get up early to avoid the big morning jam.
