There are various dishes in Korea that you can buy in a restaurant or from street food vendors. A lot of the dishes I've tried so far are either sweet or spicy. You can find bulgogi hamburgers and pizza that are sweet instead of salty! I've even tried a blueberry cheese pizza! I can't say they are my favorite foods (though the blueberry pizza actually was not bad, though it was more of a dessert than a meal), but maybe you'd like them! Instead, I will talk about one of my and many Koreans favorite dish: tteokbokki.
Tteokbokki (떡볶이) is a very popular street food dish in South Korea. It is a chewy rice cake snack often served with soft fish cakes in a spicy-sweet chili sauce. All of my Korean friends recomended I TRY this snack, and I am glad they did! I've tried tteokbokki from various sources, including street vendors, festivals, restaurants, and at the grocery store.
Tteokbokki is very delicious! Sometimes it can get too spicy for me, but I can't stop eating it! Sometimes the sauce is very thick; sometimes it is liquidy. It depends how the cook prepares his or her tteokbokki. I personally prefer tteokbokki when it is soft and chewy rather than al dente like how pasta is sometimes cooked.
