Hello, my name is Zachary Wishart. I am so happy to share my experiences in Vietnam with you. I'd like to share a little bit about myself. I grew up in Fishers, Indiana and recently graduated from Ball State University with degrees in History and Social Studies Education. I have two parents who still live and work in Indiana, a sister who works in New York City and a large loving dog named Winston. I am in Vietnam on a Fulbright grant to help teach English at a high school in rural Vietnam. I am one of nineteen Americans who were selected for this program. Along with teaching English, my primary responsibility is to serve as a cultural ambassador. When I am not teaching, I spend most of my time trying to learn about varying aspects of Vietnamese life, including religion, family, food (yum!), history and language. Like Mr. Michael, upon my return to the United States, I plan to become a social studies teacher and would like to use what I have learned to teach a more authentic version of Vietnam to my students. Along with this, I work to provide the people I meet with an honest but positive understanding of the United States. I am very much looking forward to embarking on this journey together.
Sincerely,
Zach Wishart
