Kai is my roommate in Paris. She has been living in France for the last nine years, after moving here from the USA for work. Because she speaks French like a local, she’s been helping me with the language. She's also given me tips for living in Paris, like how to use public transportation and where to go grocery shopping. Kai and I met up for dinner after work, and I was able to ask her these questions...

I live in the northern part of Paris in an area called the 17th arrondissement (district), near a public square called Place de Clichy. My apartment is pretty small by American standards but is a really common size in Paris. It is perfect for me!
I have a small family back home in the United States, just my mom, dad and little brother. They live in Charlottesville, Virginia, which is where I grew up.
Normally I just walk around, but sometimes I will take the Métro. Public transportation in Paris is really easy to use and is really practical.
