Fuerteventura has a higher population of goats than people. Really. There are an estimated 250,000 goats on the island, and only about 113,000 people. That means that for every person on the island there are at least 2 goats.
The goats generally look the same as any other goat. I'm sure you've seen them at fairs or in movies. In many ways, they look silly. They're kind of fat. They have legs that seem too skinny and a head that seems top big, and their fur doesn't seem particularly soft (although it can have some beautiful colors). And the wild goats here aren't particularly nice or interested in people, so it's hard to get a really good look at (or picture of) one.
When I do see a goat, though, whoa boy. I go wild. The couple of times I've been able to ride in a car with my friends, I've spent most of the time staring out the windows looking for goats (and camels, but I only saw one of those way in the distance once). I get so excited, and not for any good reason. Like I said, you can see goats at home. It's really not that different here.
