Sadly, the time has come. I will be leaving Moscow at the end of this week to visit Ukraine and Moldova, two other Russian-speaking countries. Our time together has come to an end, but don't worry, the next step is for you to have language adventures of your own. My own next step may have me staying in Moscow for another semester!
If you take one thing away from these articles that I've written for you, I hope that you start to learn a foreign language. I would always recommend Russian, but it can be any language! You are Americans, and since we are so far away from the rest of the world, learning languages has never been a priority in our culture. Because of the internet and technology, though, our world gets smaller every day. Learning a new language will set you apart from your classmates in the future, and you can achieve your dreams not just here but anywhere you want! I want to use myself as an example. I came here to continue my study of Russian and tour the East (I will have visited three countries in total when I come back) but instead, I received a job offer from the Russian government! I'm not going to be anything as dramatic as a spy or a cosmonaut, but working to help Russian businesses abroad is something I have always dreamed of and learning Russian sent me down that path.
