School life is one of the biggest differences between American and Korean cultures. However, some things are really similar! Let's take a look at the different parts of school life in South Korea.

Cafeteria

At lunchtime, teachers and students eat in the cafeteria together! This was a surprise to me on my first day at school, but I actually really enjoy it. You can see a picture of a standard school lunch in Korea, which includes rice, side dishes or banchan, meat and sometimes noodles!

Uniforms

School uniforms in South Korea are pretty similar to those in the U.S. Like in any country, they are different depending on the school! At my school, students only have to wear uniforms on special occasions or test days. Usually, my students like to wear a lot of U.S.-brands like Nike!

Transportation

In smaller cities, there are school buses that take students to school. In Seoul and Busan, which are the two biggest cities in Korea, students may take the subway by themselves to school. The subway in Korea is super fast, clean, easy to use and quiet!

Some schools in Korea are boarding schools, which means students live at school. My school is a boarding school!
