Today I interviewed my Japanese friend, Yume. She is a student, like me, who helps foreign students in Japan by living in our dorm and showing us around Nagoya. Whenever we have questions or need help, Yume is the one we talk to. Today she will talk about her life in Japan and what it's like growing up here.
Yume's full name is Yume Mase. She is 19 years old and goes to school with me at Nagoya University of Foreign Studies.
Currently, Yume lives in the dorms with me. Her home and family are in Toyohashi, a city in the southern part of Aichi, Japan, located about an hour and a half away from our university. Her family has a big house with six bedrooms, so every family member has a bedroom and they keep one room for storage.
Yume has a younger brother who is 15 years old. In Japan, he is in his last year of middle school. In America, he would be in his first year of high school. She describes her brother as a very kind person who prefers working on motorcyles to studying!
Her mother is 49 years old and an accountant. Yume describes her mom as kind, wise and affectionate. Her father is 46 years old and works at a company that imports sheep to Japan. Her father is really outdoorsy, strict and stubborn.
