Meet Gustavo

Introduction:

Welcome to Gustavo's life. He is a 17-year-old born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico. I am very excited to share some of his experiences and life here in Mexico. I met Gustavo because he is my host brother, and we have shared many meals and conversations about TV shows, family and interests in language learning. His life is very interesting and is just one example of a 17-year-old in Mexico. I have written this piece using Gustavo's voice.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

In Oaxaca, the custom is to eat a small breakfast, a large lunch, better known as "la comida," and a small dinner. I like to eat eggs for breakfast, steak with rice for lunch, and tuna with crackers for dinner.  Hot chocolate and conchas for dessert.

What is your house like?:

My house has seven bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's been in my family since my grandparents. There is a huge garden and patio that opens to the outside. It is a house designed with Spanish architecture, and it includes multiple patios and parts of the house outside.

What chores do you have at home?:

None, because I work from home for 8 hours a day. My mom and dad take care of the house, and I usually only leave for a 30-minute lunch break. Outside of that, I take care of the dog and make my bed.
