Last week, my friend Grace visited me in Switzerland! We walked all around Zurich together. We saw the Botanic Gardens and the Limmat River, and we looked around in many stores. By the end of the day, we were very hungry! For dinner, we wanted to try a Swiss food. We decided to try fondue! Check it out!
Fondue is a traditional meal in Switzerland where people dip different foods into a big pot of melted cheese. At the restaurant we visited, we could order bread, potatoes, pickles, onions, pears and even pineapple to dip into the cheese! We decided to try everything except the pineapple and pears.
The cheese came in a big red pot with a burner underneath to keep it warm. The cheese was so hot that it was bubbling! We were very excited to dig in. There was lots of food, and we were almost too full for dessert after– but not quite!
Afterwards, we decided to get gelato. Gelato comes from Italy, but it is a very popular dessert in Switzerland. I had a cone, and Grace had a cup. It was yummy!
