Mexico City is one of the largest and most vibrant cities in the world, filled with millions of people whose daily routines reflect a mix of culture, tradition and modern life. To understand what everyday life looks like for a young professional here, I interviewed my coworker, Alexa, who works with me on the strategic partnerships team during my internship. Through her experiences, I hope you can get a closer look at how someone lives, works, moves around the city and balances family, hobbies and culture in Mexico City.
Alexa’s responses were originally in Spanish and have been translated into English.
My name is Alexa Lizbeth González Cruz.
I live in Mexico, in Mexico City. Mexico City is divided into several boroughs, and the one I live in is Xochimilco. I do not consider my house to be huge, but it is not tiny either. Thankfully, everyone in my family has their own space. My sisters have their rooms, I have mine, and so on. In terms of the city, Xochimilco is one of the boroughs farthest from the city center, but it is a place with very beautiful traditions.
