Everyone in the world needs to eat, so food is something we all share. Food helps our bodies grow, but it also brings people together. Families and friends often cook, eat and talk together during meals. In Morocco, food is an important part of daily life. People take time to prepare meals and enjoy them together. By trying food in Morocco, I have learned about the people, the culture and the history of the place where I am living.
I have tried many different foods while in Morocco. I have eaten couscous, which is made from tiny grains and is often served with vegetables and meat. Couscous is typically eaten during special meals and family gatherings. These special meals often happen on Friday after prayers.
I have also eaten food cooked in a tajine. A tajine is a clay pot with a tall, pointy lid. Food cooked in a tajine is cooked slowly, which helps the flavors mix together and stay warm.
