School life in Botswana is a bit different from the U.S. In the U.S., students are placed into classes, and they travel with the same class all throughout school. Similarly, in Botswana, students are placed into forms. I am in a school that has form four and form five students, which is like grades nine through twelve in a U.S. high school. Right now, we only have form five students (grades eleven and twelve), but our form four students will join us on March 10th, as we transition into the next term.

Students take nine classes every day, with each week having a different class schedule. In a lot of schools in the U.S., students follow the same class schedule each semester. In Botswana, the class schedule changes each week, as they follow a six-day schedule. A six-day schedule is where, say, Monday will follow day one’s class schedule. Then, throughout the week, it will go as follows: Tuesday follows day two's schedule, Wednesday follows day three, Thursday follows day four and Friday follows day five. Then, instead of going back to day one that next Monday, students would follow their day six's schedule. This results in each day of each week following a different schedule, rather than following the same schedule every day for many months at a time.
