Hej, alle sammen! (Hi, everyone!) My name is Olivia, and I am so excited to share my journey with you! I grew up in Lutherville, Maryland, just outside of Baltimore City. At home, I love eating crabs, exploring the Inner Harbor, cheering for the Baltimore Ravens, playing lacrosse, and spending time with my two dogs, Winnie and Riley.
In college, I moved to Washington, D.C., where I studied computer science at Georgetown University. I became especially interested in using computers and data to answer questions about science and medicine. Eager to learn more about how research can improve people’s health, I applied for and was fortunate to receive a U.S. Fulbright Research Grant to study at Aarhus University in Denmark.
Currently, I am living in Aarhus, where I study the blood vessels in the brain and what happens to them during a stroke. A stroke happens when blood cannot flow normally to part of the brain, which can damage brain cells. I hope my research can help scientists better understand strokes and how doctors can care for people who have them. I am also excited to practice Danish, meet new people, try new foods, and learn about daily life in Denmark. Most of all, I cannot wait to share my adventures and discoveries with you!
