In Bengaluru, Kannada is the most popular regional language. English and Hindi are fairly common languages here, too. Just about everyone I've met can speak either English or Hindi.
Rupees are the main form of currency in India.
A refreshing bottle of cold water costs only 20 rupees ($0.29).
My favorite meal this week is a simple rice dish. I'm a huge fan of plain rice with some flavorful accompaniment. The rice dish I had at the Maitreya Buddha Pyramid was the tastiest. The rice was soft and the gravy was salty and sweet with a few sprinkled chilies. This was my first experience eating a rice dish with my hands, too. Eating with your hands is quite common in India, but I've never found myself having to do it before this week. If you ask me, I definitely prefer the silverware.
I listened to a lot of old rock this week. There's a surprising number of Indians and Indian businesses here which pay tribute to old rockstars. For example, there's a bar called "Jimi" which is based off of Jimi Hendrix. They play only rock music there. There's also a Nepalese restaurant with images of John Lennon on the walls.
