Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

Korean is the primary language spoken in South Korea. Modern Korean also includes many loanwords from English, especially for technology or newer inventions that didn’t exist historically. For example, words like “supermarket” or “television” often sound similar to how we say them in English, just with a Korean accent. In larger cities and tourist areas, you can also hear other languages such as Japanese and Chinese, as well as English, because of travel, international students and global business.

What type of money is used here?:

We use the Korean Won here.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

Roughly $1.00.

What was the best meal this week?:

I tried a western-Korean fusion restaurant at the beginning of the week: Tempeh Gangjeong plate (Stir-fried tempeh with seasoned chicken sauce and salad), common roasted vegetable lentil curry (lentil-filled masala curry sauce and oven-roasted vegetables) and linguine pasta with spicy cashew sauce and roasted enoki mushrooms.

What music did I listen to this week?:

I finally listened to songs from the K-pop demon hunter soundtrack I never listened to before! There is also a ballad singer Lim Young Woong whose music I heard in a coffee shop, and loved.
