I had lots of fun going to a local market in Gif-sur-Yvette this weekend! It's a lot like a farmer's market back home, except it's open year-round! I picked up some winter vegetables, fresh cheese and a few loaves of bread. Everything is made locally!
I read lots of physics for school, but I also love to read for fun! My favorite genre is science fiction. Last weekend I finished 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke. This week I started a French book called L'Île Mysteriuese ("The Mysterious Island)" by Jules Verne. Jules Verne is a famous French author from the 19th century, and many people say he is one of the writers who invented the genre of science fiction!
I go for a run almost every day, which I've done for years! It's my favorite way to stay active and get energized for the day or decompress after a long day of classes. There's a beautiful running trail near my apartment that runs along the River Yvette and goes through lots of beautiful parks. Right now I'm training for a half marathon in early April.
This week was exciting for scientists in France! French astronaut Sophie Adenot launched for the International Space Station (I.S.S.) a few days ago. She is the first French woman to go on a mission to the I.S.S. We had a launch party for her at my university!
