For three weeks, I got to meet a bunch of really awesome people and try out a new way of life. On that trip, I realized that I love traveling and something called “cultural exchange.” During that cultural exchange, I learned about what daily life looks like in Morocco, and I shared about my own life in America. It was a magical feeling to wake up every day and try something new, whether it was meeting people, learning a language, trying a new food or seeing a new (beautiful) place!
From February 2023 to June 2023, I got to study abroad again, and that time I went to a country called the Netherlands, which is in Europe. That time, I was gone for five whole months! I missed my family a lot, but I got to make many friends from around the world who were also studying abroad. Now, I have friends who live in Mexico, South Korea, Italy, Singapore, Scotland, Belgium and France! I got to learn so much about their countries through our cultural exchange, and that made me even more excited to keep traveling around the world after I graduated from Purdue.
That brings me to now! In September, I moved to Thailand so that I could be a teacher here for a whole year. My school teaches students from kindergarten (like you!) all the way to ninth grade, and I teach English to all of the first through sixth graders. I see each of my classes one time per week, and we play fun games to practice English.
A year is a long time to be away from my friends and family, but it is already flying by. Can you believe I have already been here for three months? I am making so many new friends and learning so much about a new way of life in Thailand. I am very excited to share this journey with you!
