¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to my journey. My name is Paula Escott, and I am 23 years old. I grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. When I was growing up, I loved to be outdoors. My grandparents had a farm, and it was one of my favorite places to visit. I still love to spend time outside, running, hiking, or paddling my way through new locations.
I went to college at the University of Maryland and studied public health science. (Public health is when programs are for lots of people, not just one. For instance, many cities offer free flu shots each year). I got to learn about many aspects of healthcare in the United States, especially how the government can help citizens.
I studied in Argentina for a semester, and it was an amazing experience. It was very interesting for me to compare how different countries make decisions about healthcare programs. I applied for a Fulbright Research grant to return to Argentina and study how technology can connect doctors with children living in remote areas with the medical services they need.
Argentina is a beautiful country and I can’t wait to share with you as I eat new things, explore new places, and learn something new every day. Are you ready to join me? ¡Vamos! Let’s go!
