Mirando atrás, me alegra muchísimo haber seguido aprendiendo español, incluso cuando fue difícil. Me dio confianza, amistades, aventuras y una habilidad que usaré toda la vida.
Ahora veo el idioma como un puente.
Conecta personas, culturas e historias.
Y por eso creo que aprender un idioma realmente es un superpoder.
When I was younger, I didn’t realize that learning Spanish would change my life. I just thought it was another class at school. But now I know that knowing another language is like having a superpower, one that lets you connect with people all around the world.
The first time I really felt this was when I studied abroad in Argentina.
I remember walking down the streets and hearing Spanish everywhere. Instead of feeling lost, I felt excited because I could understand people! I ordered food by myself, asked for directions, and had long conversations with my host mom over dinner. I even made friends who taught me new words and jokes in Spanish. If I didn’t know the language, I would have just watched from the outside. But because I did, I felt like I was part of the community.
One of my favorite memories was becoming friends with the people who worked at a small empanada stand near where I stayed. Every time I visited, we chatted in Spanish about school, food, and life in Argentina.
