Traveler Bio

Olá (Hello)! My name is Priya, and I am a researcher who loves maps, science, and helping communities care for the planet. From October 2025 through May 2026, I will be living in the Azores, a group of nine beautiful volcanic islands that are part of Portugal. While I am there, I will be working at the University of the Azores, where I study electric vehicles, such as electric cars, and how to decide the best places to put charging stations so people can travel more cleanly, safely, and efficiently.

My work combines maps, computer models, and conversations with local community members to understand how people move around the islands in their daily lives. By learning where people travel most often, I can help communities plan transportation systems that are better for both people and the environment.

I am especially excited to learn from farmers, fishermen, and students, and to explore the Azores’ volcanoes, oceans, and unique island landscapes. I look forward to sharing what I discover along the way and learning about your own community and experiences too.
