3 pm
This is the last hour of the workday! From 3:30-4:30 pm, I prepare my lessons for the next day. The students have 7th period during this time, but I don’t teach during this period. After school, many students stay and study until dinner and then they eat in the school cafeteria. There is also night study after dinner, that one teacher supervises until 9 pm.
4 pm
At 4:30, I go home! The bus is usually very crowded with students and office workers, so I like to walk instead. It is a nice walk, and I can see nature, including a huge lake. Today I wanted a snack, so I stopped at GongCha, a bubble tea shop to get a drink.
5 pm
When I get home, I clean and do daily chores like washing the dishes, doing laundry and taking out the trash. These tasks may be boring, but they are important!
6 pm
Tonight, I cooked dinner, but sometimes I order food using delivery apps. It can be expensive if you order every day, but it is a nice treat when I feel tired or busy. Most meals cost between 7,000 and 18,000 won (so, about $4.50-$12.50). There is no added sales tax, delivery fee, or tipping culture in South Korea, so ordering food is much more affordable and accessible than it is in the USA.
7 pm
I also had a meeting tonight on Zoom with Fulbright, so I went to this meeting and talked with some of my colleagues for an hour.
8-9 pm
Now it is time for self care! I take a shower, do my skincare routine and start to relax. I then usually read a book or watch a movie or a TV show.
