How I ended up in Morocco

I lived with a host family and will never forget eating dinner out in their garden on summer nights and talking with my host mom for hours. She was French but was born in Algeria, and she would tell me stories about her family. I became interested in North Africa, the influence of French colonization, and the different languages and cultures in that part of the world.

Even though I wanted to go to North Africa, I ended up spending my junior semester abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was able to attend their National University of the Arts, and pursue one of my passions: dance. I also continued studying Arabic, which I started learning when I returned from France, at a cultural center in Buenos Aires.

By the time I graduated with my Linguistics degree, I had taken language classes in Spanish, French, Arabic, and Portuguese. I wanted to learn more and practice my language skills, so I once again immersed myself in a new culture that was influenced by the many languages I had studied. Morocco was a place I had been wanting to go—the perfect place to continue learning languages and testing my English teaching skills. So...here I am! I’m excited to share more of my experiences and travels with you!
