Traveler Bio

Hi! My name is Rayleigh Deaton. I'm 22 years old, and my hometown is Lexington, Kentucky, but I'm currently living and studying in England.

Before moving to the United Kingdom, I went to college at the University of Kentucky, where I majored in media communication and political science. I fell in love with the journalism industry and knew I wanted to continue studying political communication in graduate school. I am so thankful to be a U.S. Fulbright Special Study grant recipient, which is paying for me to earn my Master's degree in Media, Power and Public Affairs from Royal Holloway, University of London. I'm interested in studying the differences and similarities between British and American press freedoms and rights, as well as the role misinformation and AI play in both countries' media industries.

When not studying, I love reading, hiking, finding new coffee shops, vintage shopping, singing in choir and photography. There are so many incredible places to visit in the UK, and I want to see them all while learning about the unique culture here. I'm glad you're along for the ride!

It's lovely to meet you, and I'm thrilled to meet you all and share my adventures in the United Kingdom with you this year. Cheerio!
