¡Hola! My name is Rebecca, and I am from the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Growing up in the Berkshires, I loved spending time outdoors, playing in the river, hiking, and traveling whenever I had the chance. After high school, I moved up north to Vermont, where I attended the University of Vermont (UVM). I studied education, and during my junior year, I did my study abroad semester in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I taught English at a colegio (middle and high school) in the city, and from there my interest in travel, languages, and learning about other cultures only flourished. That experience led me to apply for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
Currently, I am living in Bucaramanga, Colombia, where I am serving as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS). I work with university students to help them practice English while also sharing aspects of life and culture in the United States. At the same time, I am improving my Spanish, learning about Colombian culture, and exploring this beautiful country. I especially love the food here.
I am so excited to share my experiences living in Colombia with you, from everyday life to travel, language, school, and cultural traditions. I also can't wait to learn about all of you and bring you along on my adventures throughout this part of the school year!
