A Marraba (Welcome)!! My name is Rian Silcox. I am 23 and am originally from San Diego, California. This means I grew up next to the beach and love playing in the ocean, enjoying nature walks, and eating California burritos. Although I love my home (and the beach), I also love traveling! In high school, I traveled to South Africa and learned all about what healthcare looks like in different countries. This not only fueled my love for traveling but also sparked my interest in public health.
Now I am continuing my path in the health field in Ghana with the Peace Corps. I live in a small village that doesn't have access to many resources such as clean water and medical equipment. Therefore, health care depends more on prevention. In my community, I volunteer at the clinic, make at-home health visits, and have multiple different health clubs to educate on different health topics.
