Negative Impacts on the Environment

These factories can put a lot of unclean particles into the air. The wind then blows them to Taiwan. Air pollution comes primarily from factories, power plants and cars. When something is burned to provide power, this causes air pollution. A little bit of particulate matter in the air is normal, but when people burn things all the time, it can add up! The particles can get into people’s lungs and this hurts their health. It also damages the environment in several different ways.

There is a power plant near where I live. When you go up on a hill, you can see the haze from the plant hanging over the district. Taiwan’s new president is trying to shut down all of Taiwan’s nuclear power plants because of safety concerns. As a result, Taiwan had had to use more other fuel, such as coal, for power. When you burn coal, a lot more particles go into the air than with nuclear power. Therefore, air pollution is becoming more of a problem.

How would you solve this problem? Can you think of some ways that you negatively impact the environment where you live?

I hope that you and I can each do a little something to take care of the environment where we live! Good luck!
