¡Hola a todas!

So, where can I start? Before coming to Spain, I went through so many steps to prepare. I first started considering this journey in Fall 2024. It was a spontaneous decision, but it also came from attending a study abroad fair at my college, where several different companies visited to share all the places around the world we could study. That’s where I met a woman named Nora from Spanish Studies Abroad. She was incredibly kind and followed up with me often to answer all my questions.

There were many things I needed to consider, because choosing where you want to go is only a fraction of the journey. I had to complete a study abroad application through my home school, Norfolk State University, where they evaluated factors like my GPA, my current grades, how many classes I still needed to take and whether I had enough financial aid to support the trip. Then, I had to apply to the school in Spain itself! Since Elisava is an art school, I had to put together an art portfolio for them to review. That part was nerve-wracking because I’ve always viewed European art as something huge and intimidating. But in due time -- after applications, fees and lots of waiting -- I was accepted into the school.
