The weather has been chilly with temperatures around freezing. Winters in Lyon are cold and also humid (which is a huge change from New York). The humidity has been hovering in the mid-70s, and today the humidity is 72%!
I visited the Lyon Zoo, a free zoo maintained by government taxes in the Tête d'Or (Head of Gold) Park. There, I saw giraffes, lions, monkeys, birds, crocodiles and even a cheetah! Since Lyon is metropolitan (city) area, there is not a lot natural wildlife outside of the zoo (apart from the pigeons on the street!).
I was in awe by the Lyon Zoo. There were so many animals living there, even in the winter! The zoo was created in 1856. That's more than 150 years ago! The zoo employees work every day of the year. Their responsibilities include feeding animals, cleaning cages and promoting the proper animal care.
