Hi friends! My name is Ryan Rosenkrantz, and I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana. I am teaching English in Malta, a beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea. But, I didn’t choose it for the beauty. Malta is known for its arts community, and I want to use art to help my students learn English. I went to college in Memphis, Tennessee, the home of famous musicians like Elvis and Justin Timberlake. Memphis is known for other art forms like dance. I am not a dancer, but while in school, I worked at a dance studio. Kids were taught dance, for free, by real dancers. They were still learning math, science, and all that you do, but they were also learning to dance in school. I realized that kids were learning different social skills and making friends as they were singing, dancing and performing.
I want to see what arts education looks like in Malta. While in college, I studied abroad in Finland. There, I met some of my best friends from all over the world. I want to make more people of different cultures and languages be able to be friends with one another. I hope our experiences together this fall help you see how learning about the wider world can open endless doors!
