Hello! My name is Sakchhi, and I’m so excited to take you along with me as I spend a semester studying in Singapore! I’m 21 years old and a senior at the University of California, Berkeley, where I study Data Science and Cognitive Science. I was born in Kathmandu, Nepal, but moved to the United States when I was seven years old and have called the San Francisco Bay Area home ever since.
At Berkeley, I spend a lot of time studying how we can use data to understand the world and how our brains shape the way we think and behave. But somewhere along the way, I became fascinated by something a little different: the way we communicate! I’ve become really interested in marketing, public relations, advertising. Basically, how ideas and stories can influence the way we see the world. That curiosity is one of the things bringing me all the way to the National University of Singapore, where I’ll be taking Media Studies classes and getting involved with student organizations.
Outside the classroom, I want to make the most of living somewhere new. I hope to become a more consistent writer, get better at racket sports like tennis, squash, and pickleball, and explore as much as I can. Singapore will also be my home base for discovering more of Asia, with trips to Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, and China on my list!
I’m excited to keep learning about the different places and people that make up our world. I can’t wait to take you along as I discover Singapore, meet new people, try new foods, and explore new places. Let’s see what we discover together!
